FAQ

Q: What are the Shelter hours?
A: Currently, the Shelter is open
Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm.
Arrangements may be made for after hour visits by calling
(334)738-7387.
We are working toward being open Saturdays!

Q: What are the typical adoption fees?
A: Currently our adoption fees run between $65 and $95, depending on the animal.

Q: Do you take in dogs or cats because the owner can no longer care for them?
A: Yes we do. We would suggest trying to find them another responsible home first as the Shelter is usually at capacity  but in most cases we will take them. PLEASE CALL AHEAD (334)738-7387 AND MAKE ARRANGEMENTS PRIOR TO BRINGING YOUR PET IN. You will need to bring in all their information including vaccination records and will be asked to complete a questionnaire so we can appropriately match them with a new family.
Your honesty is your pets only hope to finding a new home.

Q: Is your Shelter a no kill Shelter?
A: Unfortunately it is not. Sometimes animals are seized from abusive owners and are extremely ill or injured that euthanasia is the best thing for that animal to end its suffering. Unfortunately, there are also dogs that are not
adoptable for whatever reason and seem to be over looked by people when they come in looking for a pet.
Many dogs sit in the kennels for a very long time and sadly,
sometimes these dogs will never know what it is like to have a family or home. There are times when the decision must be made for the best interest for the animal
 and its quality of life.

Q: Do you accept donations?
A: YES WE DO! We can always use monetary donations as our operating expenses (food and veterinary care) are always high and every little bit helps!
Please contact us for more information.

The dogs also love new dog toys to play with like balls, chew toys, knotted rope and squeaky toys.

In the Winter months we are in dire need of old blankets, towels, clean carpet remnants and any other warm articles that we can place in their houses to keep warm with.

We can always use new dog houses, kennels or anything
else you can think of that the Shelter can use.
All items should be in good working order.

We also have a wish list of other things the Shelter needs so please click on Our Wish List page at the right for more information.
